Catherine A. Dwyer Classroom Resources
Start spreading positive seeds of emotional empowerment in your classroom! Dig into our You Are a Gardener® Classroom Starter Kit, which includes activities and resources designed to deepen your understanding of our vocabulary and mindset focused on cultivating emotional resilience and empowerment.
Let’s dig into a new generation of gardeners that promote kindness, empathy, gratitude, inclusivity, respect, and integrity.
Gardener’s Glossary-
Explore the You Are a Gardener vocabulary and mindset with our Gardener's flashcards. These cards serve as an excellent resource to introduce the You Are a Gardener concept. We suggest printing them out and displaying them on your fridge, bulletin board, or laminate them for easy reference. Consistency is essential; we encourage you to incorporate the vocabulary into your daily routine.
Gardening Tool Badge Collector’s Sheet-Discover and collect Gardening Tool Badges in your home, classroom, or during counseling sessions. Each Gardening Tool is based on activities and exercises designed to help gardeners of all ages feel confident, resilient, and calm. Collecting these badges adds is a fun way to keep our program growing. The more 'gardening tools' we have when faced with weeds (stress), the better equipped we are to thrive through life's challenges and turn those ‘weeds into seeds’!

My Flowers Activity Sheet -
This You Are a Gardener® icebreaker activity is rooted in gratitude. As gardeners, our flowers symbolize all the things we are grateful for. Daily gratitude practice is extremely beneficial for our social and emotional development (at any age). Additionally, this activity serves as a positive distraction for younger gardeners when they are caught up in the weeds (stressed). Utilize this tool as a mindful strategy to help gardeners refocus and return to a state of calm and appreciation.
Pick-A-Tool -Any Tool Activity Sheet-
This engaging activity provides gardeners with a chance to explore the various words for weeds that represent our challenging feelings and uncomfortable emotions. Additionally, it encourages gardeners to identify helpful "gardening tools," which are the activities and exercises that help cultivate confidence, creativity, and calmness. By recognizing our ability to identify negative emotions and choosing positive, healthy ways to manage them, we dig into the true definition of gardening. This activity helps promotes emotional empowerment and resilience.
The Seeds Technique™ Poster-
Turn your 'Weeds into Seeds' by bringing mindful awareness to your emotional distress. Our "SEEDS Technique™" poster is an effective way to help manage stress levels, for gardeners of all ages, anytime, anywhere! This simple process involves identifying the cause of our stress, practicing mindfulness, communicating our feelings with trusted individuals, implementing healthy coping mechanisms, while staying rooted in gratitude. This is an extremely powerful visual aid for your home, classroom or office.
Origami Foxes-
If you've been following our journey, you're aware of our passion for crafting our signature origami foxes. Engaging in origami not only helps take our minds off of our weeds, but also promotes mindfulness as we focus on following instructions.
