Meet Shanna Truffini

Dig into raising a new generation of emotionally empowered kids!

Greetings and a warm welcome! I'm thrilled to introduce myself to those who are new to my platform. My name is Shanna Truffini, and I am the Author of the children's book, You Are a Gardener®, and the Creator of the transformative #PullYourWeeds® Blog and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs.

From the very beginning, I have been a firm believer in the saying, 'necessity is the mother of invention.' Inspired by my own children's journey, I wrote You Are a Gardener® as a response to their need for positive and healthy ways to navigate life's everyday stressors and uncomfortable emotions. Little did I know that this seedling of an idea would blossom into an all-encompassing emotional empowerment platform dedicated to empowering ‘gardeners of all ages’ with the essential vocabulary, mindset, and tools to grow forward feeling confident and calm.

My mission is to help raise a new generation of emotionally empowered gardeners. I firmly believe that by providing children, teachers and families with the necessary skills to nurture their emotional well-being, we are sowing the seeds for a brighter future. It was never just about writing a book or creating a program; it's about making a lasting impact on gardeners of all ages and empowering them to cultivate resilience and emotional well-being.

I invite you to join me on this extraordinary journey of growth and discovery. Whether you are a parent, teacher, or caregiver, I am here to support you every step of the way. I encourage you to reach out to me directly at flowers@youaregardener.com with any questions, feedback, or input you may have regarding my programs. Your voice matters, and together we can continue to nurture a new generation of emotionally empowered kids.

Positive Screen Time:
One of the first programs to sprout was Truffini's video series, Hello Gardeners®. This idea came from Shanna Truffini's daughter, Anna when she was only 8 years old. She had the idea to create a show where every episode Anna and her brother Aidan would help other children 'pull their weeds and turn them into seeds', plus feature a fun craft or mindfulness activity. They filmed their fist episode in their grandparent's greenhouse in the fall of 2018 along with the talents of their videographer Kelsey DeLaney, who is also the illustrator of You Are a Gardener®. Since then they have filmed over 20 episodes and also created a spin off series this summer called Camp Hello Gardeners®.

At the core of Shanna's programs lies a universal language that speaks directly to the hearts of children—flowers, weeds, and seeds. These simple yet profound metaphors lay the foundation for a new narrative, empowering children to navigate their emotions with grace and resilience. By understanding that just as flowers symbolize the positive aspects of our lives, weeds represent the challenges and negative emotions we encounter, and seeds signify the potential for growth and transformation, children embark on a journey of self-discovery and emotional empowerment.

Shanna's programs offer a holistic approach that not only addresses emotional well-being but also cultivates a strong sense of confidence and tranquility within children. By providing them with the tools and vocabulary to tend to their emotional gardens, they learn to navigate the complexities of their inner worlds, fostering resilience and promoting healthy growth.

The impact of Shanna's work extends far beyond the pages of her book. With each program she creates, she plants seeds of hope and resilience in the hearts of children, enabling them to blossom into the best versions of themselves. Her unwavering commitment to their growth and emotional development serves as an inspiration to educators, parents, and caregivers alike.
