Gardener Shanna and Gardener Aidan recently traveled down to beautiful South Jersey to spread some seeds of emotional growth and positivity with the students of Elsinboro School in New Jersey. ✨

Elsinboro is a small but mighty school, full of heart and spirit! We had the opportunity to host two uplifting #PullYourWeeds® assemblies—one for K-5 and another for the incredible 6th-8th graders. It was a true joy to connect with their students and plant seeds of confidence, creativity, and calm.
This special event was coordinated by their caring and dedicated school counselor, Ms. Julie Hofacker, who had already been using You Are a Gardener® resources with her students even before our visit—and continues to nurture them afterward! Julie recently shared this heartfelt message with us:
"I hope that you are doing well. I did follow up classroom lessons from your assembly last week and the kids said how much they enjoyed your presentation. Thank you again for making the long trip and sharing your wonderful message that We are ALL Gardeners." ~Ms. Julie Hofacker School Counselor The Elsinboro School | Salem, NJ
Moments like these remind us just how important it is to have gardeners like Julie helping students grow from the inside out! 🌾✨
It is always a joy to have Gardener Aidan join our assemblies. Watching him in action is a beautiful reminder of what it looks like to grow up as a gardener—confident, creative, and compassionate. His presence adds a special spark and helps make the experience even more relatable and fun for the students! 🌟
Connecting with the middle school students was a true highlight. We know how crucial it is to empower this age group with age-appropriate gardening tools to help them dig deeper into kindness, empathy, and self-confidence. For our middle schoolers, we introduced a fun and meaningful interactive exercise:
Each student received an index card to write down either a flower (joy or gratitude), a weed (challenge or stress), or a gardening tool (healthy coping strategy).
We read some aloud and had an open conversation—bringing their gardens of emotions to life and helping them see they are not alone. 🌼🌱🛠️
Thank you, Elsinboro School and Counselor Julie, for welcoming us with open arms and open hearts. You are truly gardeners, and we can't wait to see where your gardens grow from here!
Let's keep planting those seeds of positive change together! 🌟
