School Spotlight: South Main Street School Assembly in Pleasantville, NJ

The South Main Street School Assembly in Pleasantville, New Jersey was one of those meaningful moments that reminds us why we continue to show up, plant seeds, and grow alongside one another.
Our time with students and staff was filled with connection, engagement, and shared growth, creating an experience that will stay with us as we keep growing.
From the very beginning, this connection was thoughtfully built. School counselor Azja Christmon reached out over a year ago to begin planning this student assembly program, and that intention carried through every step of the experience. When we arrived in early spring, we were greeted with such a genuine and welcoming energy from the entire school community.
As a New Jersey-based organization, there is something especially meaningful about offering school assemblies right here in our Garden State, staying connected to our roots while reaching new communities. Traveling down to South Jersey, we were reminded that this message continues to grow far beyond where it was first planted.
We had the opportunity to connect with over 400 students through this interactive school assembly, sharing the You Are a Gardener® message together as a team. Presenting side by side, we showed up as gardeners, supporting one another while guiding students through meaningful conversations about growth, resilience, and turning weeds into seeds.
The students were incredibly respectful, engaged, and present. Their energy filled the room and made this youth empowerment assembly both impactful and memorable.
We are so grateful for the warm welcome from the entire school, and especially thankful for this thoughtful message from one of their teachers, Grace Connelly:
“Dear You Are a Gardener Team,
Good afternoon! I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to extend my sincere gratitude for the wonderful workshop you provided for our students. The session was not only informative, but also fun and highly engaging for the children. The mother, daughter, and son team was especially engaging, and they did an excellent job presenting the material in a way that was both meaningful and enjoyable, truly capturing the students' interest.
It was clear that a great deal of thought and effort went into the planning and delivery of the workshop, and it made a positive impact on our students’ learning experience. We truly appreciate the time and dedication your team shared with us.

These words stay with us as we keep growing, supporting student growth, confidence, and connection through our school assembly programs.
And of course, no trip is complete without a little Gardener Eats. We stopped at Harbor Diner in Egg Harbor to take a moment, reflect, and celebrate the seeds that were planted that day. These moments matter just as much as the time spent presenting.
This is what it’s all about. Showing up. Sharing the message. Growing together.
