Learn how to make these charming ornaments with gardener Kelsey! Gardener Kelsey's Dried Orange Fox Decorations Craft: What you'll need- -Oranges -Black & White Paint -Hot Glue -Ornament Hooks or String -Parchment paper -Access To An Oven Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees. Cut oranges into 1/4 -1/8 inch slices. Then cut 2-3 orange slices into 8 pieces (for the ears). Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Don't overcrowd the slices. Bake for 2-4 hours flipping every 30 minutes. Time is determined on thickness of slice. You want the juices to be totally evaporated and the oranges hardened. Once cool, you can hot glue on two ears to your orange slice. Once fully dry (not sticky) and cooled, use your paint to make Foxie's face. Once paint is completely dry you can put an ornament hook or string through the top to use as a tree ornament or window hanger. You can also poke a hole through the top of each slice and string together to use as garland. These slices also look beautiful in a bow of potpourri or as table settings tied around a napkin. • Growing Strong: You Are a Gardener® Turns 6

Growing Strong: You Are a Gardener Turns 6 It all started six years ago when our family planted a tiny seed - You Are a Gardener®. As a grassroots and self-funded organization, we have since blossomed into a platform dedicated to empowering children, families, and educators alike. Our mission is to empower gardeners of all ages with a vocabulary, mindset, and tools rooted in gardening concepts, to help build a resilient generation of future gardeners. We are grateful for every accomplishment and especially for connecting with over 10,000 students over the last 6 years. Thank you to all our gardener friends and family for supporting us on our journey. We look forward to much continued growth! At the root of it all, You Are a Gardener® was written for and inspired by Gardener Anna and Gardener Aidan when they were 7 and 5 years old. It was created as a tool for our family to find healthy ways to manage stress, while staying rooted in joy and gratitude. If you have met these two, you know. They are the true definition of gardeners; open, honest, kind, communicative, confident, resilient, inclusive, grateful, and so much more. By using our gardening vocabulary and tools, our family was able to keep the lines of communication open daily, manage big emotions in a healthy way, and develop positive strategies to grow through challenging situations. Anna and Aidan's eagerness, hard work, and enthusiasm played a major role in the triumph of our company and are still growing strong today. • The Gardeners of Tomorrow

The Gardeners of Tomorrow: We are all gardeners tending to the most beautiful gardens inside ourselves. Just like a garden, we have flowers that represent the joy and gratitude we feel, but we also have weeds that represent stress and uncomfortable emotions. However, as gardeners, we all have the ability to plant seeds that will help us learn from our experiences and choose healthy tools to cope with life's challenges, allowing us to keep on growing. Gardeners know it can be easy to get caught up in the weeds of life, but it's important to remember that we always have the power to plant new seeds and nurture the flowers within us. By doing so, we can continue to cultivate a beautiful garden that brings us peace, gratitude and happiness. So may we all continue to tend to our gardens, planting seeds of love, kindness, and personal growth, and pulling out the weeds of stress and negativity. This will help create a beautiful environment within ourselves, radiating positivity, resilience and light to those around us. Just keep growing gardeners, we are rooting for you! Authors Note: We refer to this page as "The Gang's All Here" because we wanted to include all of our gardening friends in a vibrant and optimistic setting at the end of the book.

  • Unpack Your Day: Tips To Get Gardeners To Open Up and Talk About Their Day

Maintaining an open line of communication with children is extremely beneficial for their social and emotional development. Getting kids to share what they experience during the day, either good or bad helps them to 'grow' through what they go through with a positive outlook. It helps gardeners develop communication skills, encourages self-reflection, builds stronger relationships, improves problem-solving skills, and reduces stress and anxiety. Scroll down for some helpful Tips Unpack Your Day & To Get Gardeners (of all ages) To Open Up & Talk About Their Day and to download the 'Gardening Tool Badge for this exercise. As a parent ,caregiver or guardian, it can be challenging to get children to open up about their day. However, there are several techniques that you can try to encourage kids to share their experiences with you. Here Are Some Helpful Tips To Unpack Your Day: Create a routine: Establish a regular time and place for your children to talk about their day. This could be after they get home from school, during dinner or before bedtime. By making it a routine, your children will come to expect it/look forward to it, and it will become a natural part of their day. Ask open-ended questions: Instead of asking yes or no questions, ask your children open-ended questions that require more detailed answers. For example, instead of asking "Did you have a good day?", ask "What was the best part of your day?" "Who was kind to you today?" "Was anyone unkind to you today?" Express interest: When your children do share something with you, show that you are interested and engaged. Ask follow-up questions and encourage them to tell you more. Be patient: Sometimes, your children may not want to talk about their day right away. Be patient and give them some space. They may be more willing to open up later on. Avoid judgment: Try not to judge or criticize your children for what they share with you. This will only make them less likely to open up in the future. By using these tips as a guideline, you can create a comfortable and supportive environment that encourages your children to share their experiences with you. Remember, it may take some time and effort, but planting the seeds to keep the line of communication open with young gardeners helps cultivate resilience, empathy and a positive disposition.
